Created for our duo show Twin Bruises, 'Can I Say Something?' is a collaborative piece made with my lovely friend Kaitlyn Hulslander. The title, coming from our first conversation, is an ode to the friendship we cultivated over three years working closely in our undergraduate ceramic studio. In asking for help in moving my work, we began a conversation immediately marked with a core foundation that maintains to this day in our friendship - sincerity, showing up as we are, seeing the truth in the heart of the words, hearing what the other needs to say. This work honors the core tenets of our relationship and opens the opportunity for viewers to engage with these foundations. Inscribed within the form are invitations for conversation:

How was your day?
What's on your mind?
Can I tell you something?
Tell me everything
What are you thinking about?
How do you feel?
Is something burdening you?
Tell me what's on your mind
Can I say something?

In offering the opportunity to write anything under anonymity, we hope to extend the gift of solace we have found in each other.
