Comprising the culmination of Hulslander and Saad’s Bachelor of Arts bodies of work, Twin Bruises holds space for investigations of grief in each owns lens. Sparked by conversations between the two over their three years of friendship and shared space, the exhibition gives viewers a voyeuristic look at the tender moments: the worlds built and shared through tribulations.
United yet universally alone, they invite you to walk through a curated space crafted through memory. Working through individual mediums of metalsmitting (Hulslander) and Fiber (Saad), the artists merge material vocabularies while remaining rooted in the overlapping medium of ceramics mirroring this fundamental truth. In the deeply individual experience of pain, we find solace in seeing ourselves in each other.
